Cruises 7 to 12.

 

 

7 - Locks & Tunnels Galore.

Warwick Tuesday 12th June to Worcester by Tuesday 19th June. 7 nights £695 per berth.

Spend your first night in Warwick, why not arrive early, leave your cases on the boat and go and visit historic Warwick. We climb up Hatton broad 21 locks, then out through a tunnel before arriving at the start of the Stratford canal.

On the second day we carry on up locks, this time narrow ones, working the butty the way horse boats have been handled since the 18th century. We then cruise out into the country for the night passing through two lift bridges as we do so.

We then join the Worcester & Birmingham Canal passing through three tunnels, one is one of the longest in the UK. We then spend all the next day going slowly down the 36 locks of Tardebige set in the Worcestershire Countryside. At Hanbury Wharf we will turn down the newly, (2011) re-opened Droitwich Canal to the River Severn. Finally we will finish by cruise on the River Severn to finish at Worcester.

Tuesday night at Warwick; Wednesday Lapworth; Thursday Dickens Heath; Friday Tardebbige; Saturday Stoke Wharf; Sunday Droitwich; Monday Worcester.

Be collected from Warwick Parkway Railway Station at 4.30 p.m. on Tuesday 12th June, and returned to Worcester Shrub Street Railway Station by 10.00 a.m. on Tuesday 19th June.

8 - The River Severn & it's Monasteries. A One Centre Cruise.

Worcester Tuesday 19th June and back to Worcester by Mon 25th June. 6nights £595 per berth.

A chance to cruise on the River Severn down to Gloucester and back to Worcester. But the special feature of this cruise arethe four half day guided visits to the Monasteries which have flourished alongside this River.

  • Gloucester Cathedral. A former Benedictine Monastery, more recently famed as a film location of Harry Potter, (the beautifuil cloisters.)
  • Tewkesbury Abbey. Now a large church set in a small town, but again founded as a Benedictine Monastery.
  • Worcester Cathedral. Our third Benedictine Monastery set in a lovely setting on the bankls of the River Severn.
  • To finish we will visit a Monastery which is alive and active in the 21st century.

Tuesday night at Worcester; Wednesday Gloucester Docks; Thursday Tewkesbury; Friday Worcester ( on the River by the race course); Saturday Holt Heath; Sunday Worcester.

9 - Droitwich Circular. A One Centre Cruise.

Worcester Monday 25th June and back to Worcester by Friday 29th June. 4nights £415 per berth.

A chance to cruise an exciting ring only reopended in the summer of 2011. We will cruise up the Worcester and Birmingham Canal to Hanbury. Then cruise down the Driotwich Canals to the River Severn. Finally we follow the River Severn back to Worcester.

10 - The Lower Severn & it's Canal.

Worcester Friday 29th June to Gloucester by Tuesday 3rd July. 4nights £415 per berth.

A lazy cruise. Sit on the boats watching the water pass by. We start by cruising down the River Severn from Worcester straight to Gloucester. At Gloucester we moor overnight in the docks before exploring the whole of the Gloucester and Sharpness Ship Canal, with a chance to look at the junction at Saul, and to visit the Ship's Graveyard as well as an overnight stop at Sharpness.

Friday night at Worcester. Saturday Gloucester; Sunday Sharpness; Monday Gloucester.

11 - Slowly up the Avon.

Gloucester Tuesday 3rd July to Stratford-upon-Avon by Monday 9th July. 6 nights, £595, per person.

There is nothing so good as messing about on a river, especially if you have a crew to do the work.

We start in the fantastic setting of the historic docks at Gloucester. (Why not arrive early drop off your bags and explore the city of Gloucester. )

We start by traveling up the broad River Severn, then go onto Shakespeare's River Avon as it gradually gets narrower and narrower.

There are overnight stops at Tewkesbury, and Pershorer and of course we finish up in Stratford upon Avon. (You are welcome to leave your bags safely with us while you spend the day exploring Stratford before setting off home.)

N. B. We will also stop for two nights at Evesham to give you a chance to join in Evesgham's River Festival and celebrate 50 years since the Lower Avon was restored. Evesham River Festival.

12 - Bard to Earl.

Stratford-upon-Avon Monday 9th July to Warwick by Saturday 14th July. 5 nights, £510, per person.

A delightfully quiet rural canal, a fascinating way to travel. We leave the crowded tourist streets of Stratford behind as we slowly climb up first the locks in Stratford then those at Wilmcotte We pass over three aqueducts, and through lots more locks all set in the countryside.

For the last day we join the Grand Union Canal, to pass through a tunnel before dropping down the 21 Broad locks at Hatton to Arrive in Warwick.

Monday night at Stratford; Tuesday Wilmcote locks; Wednesday Wotton Waven Thursday Lapworth; Friday Warwick.

Be collected from Stratford Railway Station at 4.30 p.m. on Monday 9th July, and returned to Warwick Parkway Railway Station by 10.00 a.m. on Saturday 14th July.
