16 - Stratford's Hidden Canal. Stratford to Warwick Saturday 10th July to Friday 16th July. 6 nights for £575 per berth. The Stratford canal is a hidden jewel of the Warwickshire countryside. Often forgotten in the attention paid to Stratford and Warwick which we slowly travel between. It has delightful lock flights, iron trough aqueducts, unusual bridges and charming lock cottages all set in the countryside. We then finish the cruise with a short trip on the Grand Union canal giving us a tunnel and a massive flight of broad locks. First a taste of the Grand Union Canal then the famous rural Oxford Canal. Two very different canals. The Grand Union is broad and magestic with aqueducts and wide steep lock flights. The Oxford is narrow and winding. Even its lock flights spread out give the feeling of gentility. There is also short stretch of river cruising on the delightful River Cherwell. 20 - River Cruising. Worcester to Stratford. Saturday 14th August to Saturday 21st August. 7 nights for £665 per berth. "There is nothing so nice as messing about on the river" Especially when there is an expert crew to handle the boats! Two days on the River Severn and the full length of the River Avon from Tewkesbury up to Stratford. Contrast the mighty Severn with the Avon whose head waters we only just fit on! A chance also to stroll around the towns and cities of the rivers when the 'visitors' have left.
