News about Reed Boats
in 2008.
March
2008.
Maintenance work came to an end.
- A
total refit to the lounge on the front of the butty. New fixed seats, which also
gave us the chance to move the water pump out from cabin one, and new cushions.
This lounge will now accommodate more passengers and is also a pleasanter place
to relax in.
- New carpet and new curtains in the main lounge/dinning room
on the motor improved this area as well.
- The rear shower room on the
motor was also totally rebuild getting rid of the old bath with a new walk in
shower complete with safely handles. Now if you are of such restricted mobility
that you need to use one of the cabins on the motor to avoid crossing over between
boats, you have a lovely new shower room as well.
- I improvements to the
guest cabins on the motor to get them up to the same standard as those on the
butty. The basic construction was originally the same but we had to include all
the many improvements we have carried out on the butty over the last four years.
- Plus of course a lot of painting and other ongoing maintenance.
New
crew arrived and were trained.
- Marie, my eldest daughter, has agreed
to come back for another year I am delighted to say. So she will be working as
indoor crew cooking her splendid breakfasts again.
- Travis, a young South
African, has joined us, I hope for the year, he will do the outdoor work and the
cleaning inside the butty.
Finally the day arrived and we set off
from Warwick for an Easter cruise.
