News about Reed Boats in 2007.

March 2007.

We are on our travels again, and the temperature has dropped!! Snow showers, ice in the mornings and a vicious cross wind!! Ideal boating weather with a warm coal fire inside. We said goodbye till the Autumn to all our friends at Saltisford Warwick and set out up Hatton locks as British Waterways were still removing the 'closed for winter maintenance' notices.

We have started the year with two crew. As expected my oldest daughter Marie is going to crew for the year for us. She will be living in the butty cabin and doing the indoor crew work. So expect an interesting variety of teas and healthier snacks to be available this year. Then we have been joined by Trevor, an Australian in his early twenties who comes to us from the Australian Army. He will be living in a cabin inside the motor and doing the work of outdoor crew. Despite coming from sunny Australia the cold weather does not seem to worry him as he goes out for a run each morning when I am still hugging the radiator.

During the winter we managed to get a variety of work done to make the boats more comfortable including :-

We have also replaced a lot of the older bedding on the butty and provided a number of new items of crockery. An extra outside step, a wire covered over in the butty cabins, new shower grouting etc., many similar smaller items.

Bookings are, so far, up this year. There are now only one or two cabins left over the summer holidays, however there is still plenty of space in April and some in May and June.
