News about Reed Boats in 2005.
February.
We have stayed at Pinder's yard at Stoke Wharf for the whole of January, and will stay here until we set out for our first cruise on March 11th. It is an ideal spot, if at times a little distracting watching work on other boats, like when they craned a boat out over the top of the canal side work shops!
A whole range of jobs have now been done. The outside paint work has been overhauled and finished. Last summer we were so late in starting that we had to cruise with one side missing a top coat! No more. Carpets are being laid throughout the butty. A new Radio/CD has been fitted in the Butty lounge. A new LCD TV has been fitted in the motor lounge with a new aerial. New tables have arrived for the lounge and a huge storage cupboard in the front toilet. In all the boat is now much more comfortable to travel on. Transfers for sign writing and extra roses are in the post at present and these will add to the colourful look.
We are still advertising for crew. We had arranged our crew, then one member developed medical problems and has had to withdraw. So we are back to the start again, but there are a number of people very interested.
If
you have access to Carlton ITV then you will have been able to watch the story
of the building of the boats last winter. The picture alongside shows the film
crew hard at work last Summer, we have yet to see this clip used, hopefully next
week. If you live outside the area then remember we will have this year's Waterworld
available on video for you to watch when you cruise with us.
At home I am busy with all the paper work. Our post man is delivering brochures from all over the country so we can tell our guests what attractions are nearby each day, and we will have the 2005 opening hours and charges.
All in all a very busy winter, as work is finished I will put pictures up on this site and also we will be publishing a new brochure for Easter 2005 containing pictures of the finished boats. I am now on the boats most week days, so if you are near Stoke Prior, or down at Worcester do come and have a look. It is best to ring first and check, unless you are just passing by, as some days I will be away obtaining materials and other days I will take work home to do.
