News about Reed Boats in 2005.

November.

We have had a very busy season, and as a result I have missed writing for a couple of months. We travelled down the Thames and enjoyed ourselves on the Kennet and Avon canal. It was the first time that we had cruised this canal and we found it beautiful, unfortunately we are not able to get back next year, but it will feature in our 2007 routes. We then travelled over familiar routes, but no less enjoyable for that, via Braunston, the Ashby and Coventry to Market Harborough, and then back through Warwick to Worcester. Our two South African crew stayed with us for the rest of the season and have now gone to look for work in Oxford having fallen in love with that city during our turn rounds there.

In amongst the hectic work we found time to continue to improve the quality of our boats and to achieve official recognition of this. We are now probationary members of the Hotel Boat section of APCO, (The Association of Pleasure Craft Operators.) This is a section of the British Marine Federation, and before joining we had to assure them that we meet a number of standards in safety and operation. We were also assessed by Visit Britain and awarded a three star rating. This was after a very rigid 24 hour on site inspection.

We are now safely moored in Diglis Basin Worcester for the winter. We will be going into the dry dock, touching up the paint work and doing various internal upgrades. If you live near Worcester, or are visiting there come along and call on me. I'm on the boat for just four days each week, so if you are making a special trip give me a call first to make sure I'm there. I'm always willing to stop for a chat and a cup of coffee.

This year we have a five day cruise at New Year on the Worcester and Birmingham canal, however 4 of the 6 places are already booked. If you are interested in the last 2 single cabins then get in touch quickly!

This web site has also been extensively overhauled, so take a few minutes to explore it.
