October 2004.

As the Autumn arrives we are still exploring the canals, up from Gloucester to roam around the Braunston Coventry area, reaching right across to Market Harborough and up to the end of the Ashby. It is late in the season and we have fewer guests, but we still continue and we are never empty.

The weather breaks and we feel the full advantage of the coal fire in the lounge, which has not been out since the end of August!, the central heating on the butty also ensures that bedrooms are warm. Out front the cratch covers mean that Guests can be dry and watch the crew working in the rain :-( , on the motor thanks to the stove it is even warm out there. Despite the rain the canals are now even more beautiful with the trees in their full Autumn colours. The canals are also, out of season, very quiet.

Crewing stays the same, myself, Marie and Dave. We are now starting to make plans for next year, we will probably use three of us again, with Angela, my wife, assisting during school holidays. The question at present is who they will be.

We have introduced some short breaks which you can book well in advance as well as the popular full week breaks. We are going back to the popular areas, but also included cruises down on the less traveled Gloucester and Sharpness Canal, including the Canal Festival at Saul. We will also next year be going down the Thames to cruise on the Kennett and Avon canal right over to Bath. We have had a good start to bookings with all places already taken on cruises 4, 21 and 24.

Most important of all we are still enjoying it all!
