News about Reed Boats in 2004.
June 2004.
May was so hectic that I never managed to write a newsletter. Life is not much better now so just a few brief lines.
The email competition for a free holiday was drawn on the Sunday after Easter in the presence of the Waterworld cameras and one lucky winner drawn out who has now booked their holiday.
Oak was moved from Baunston to spend the next month down at Saltisford arm Warwick. Here I have finished the painting and been involved in fitting out the bathroom, our cabin and the kitchen as well as finishing touches elsewhere.
We took a break from work and took Oak up to Crick show. Our last competition took place here, and Andy Newman of Willow Wren Training, someone with long Hotel Boat experience drew out our last lucky winner for the year who has now booked her holiday this summer. We had a lot of interest shown at Crick and some bookings as well.
We also used Crick show to introduce our short breaks. Phone us within six weeks of the days you wish to travel and, if there is a free cabin, you can now book for any combination of days from 1 to 6 Ideal for a special occassion, or as a taster to try us out before booking for a week.
Ash has now been permanently placed in the water at Braunston to finish her fit out. Oak will be joining her on the second Sunday of June and will remain there until the end of the month. The first meeting afloat of the two boats will be filmed for Waterworld. There will defiantly be another series in the spring and Reed Boats will feature over a few weeks.
I also had a chance to show the owner of Duke and Duchess around Ash one Saturday, then the great fun of working that hotel pair for the next day. I can now hardly wait to get Oak and Ash on the move as well.
If you are in the Braunston area in the middle of June, come and look at the boats, ask if I'm around if it is during the day, or knock on the doors of Oak in the evening, I will be delighted to show you around the boats.
Looking ahead Oak and Ash, on schedule, will leave Braunston on the last weekend of June to travel via Warwick, Kingswood, Stratford, Tewkesbury and Gloucester to be on display at the Saul festival on the Gloucester; and Sheerness Canal for the first weekend of July. Say hello if you pass us on the way, and/or call and see us at Saul.
