News about Reed Boats in 2004.
February 2004.
Welcome to the second of our monthly Newsletters keeping you abreast of progress on and with Reed Boats.
Boat Building.
'Oak' our motor was craned into the canal at the end of January She is now afloat in the marina arm being fitted out. Construction is just
about on schedule since while she was a week late being craned in, work originally
not planned until she was outside the shed has already been done. With the engine
inside, steelwork completed, and the floor, ballast, lining and windows all
in place she looks like a Narrow Boat now.
Meanwhile Inside Dave
Thomas's Shed at Braunston,
our butty 'Ash' has been started with the base plates laid and the sides being
welded on already by the end of January.
Training.
Courses continue for Martin, a Business Link course and a Diesel Engine course
this month. The food hygiene one has been postponed for a month to allow more
urgent matters to be sorted out.
Come and meet us.
If you are reading this at the start of the month then remember that we have
arranged to be at the Ownership's
Show at Braunston on Saturday 7th and Sunday 8th February from 10.00 a.m.
till 4.00 p.m. If however you miss us then. There are two more chances coming
up.
At Crick Show
at the end of May, but just for displays and to meet us, as our boats are too
long to fit in, but more on that in the May Newsletter.
At Saul Canal Festival, at the
start of July, when we hope to have both boats there open for people to look
around before we take our first Guests cruising.
Competitions.
Over the next few months we will be offering three free holidays, each of one
week's (7 days), cruise for two people, to be taken on any available weeks later
this year. The lucky people will be drawn out of those who submit the correct
answers to the questions on each occasion.
If you miss getting to Braunston to join in the first competition at the Ownership
show then keep your eye on this web site since at the very start of March there
will be a chance to win a holiday here. Entry only via this web site.
The Third competition will then be run at Crick Boat Show, open to all who come
along.
More next month.
