Pictures of the Birmingham & Fazley Canal.

The Birmingham and Fazeley canal starts at Fazeley Junction on the Coventry canal near Tamworth it runs for fifteen miles up into the heart of Birmingham . For the first six miles it is out in the country, although the M42 and then the M6 Toll road destroy the peace at the top of the Curdworth flight of eleven locks. Boats usually moor around Curdworth, near the only tunnel on the canal, just under sixty yards long, either after or before undertaking the passage into the centre of Birmingham in one days run.

For the rest of its route it is an urban canal passing factories and under spaghetti junction of the M6. It then goes up the Aston flight of eleven locks to reach Aston junction. The mixture of countryside, historic town-scape and modern day city-scape provide interesting variety along this canal.

This page contains pictures of the section of canal from Aston junction down to Fazeley.
